Margaret Olive Amundson

August 4, 1920 — April 3, 2006

Margaret Olive Amundson, age 85, died April 3, 2006 at the Vernon Manor Nursing Home in Viroqua. Margaret was born August 4, 1920 to Ole and Myrtle Paulsrud in Vernon County, Wisconsin. She married Alexander Lars Amundson January 19, 1939. They farmed in the Cashton/Westby area. Alex died July 30, 1979. Margaret suffered from dementia and had resided at Vernon Manor the past five years. During World War II, Margaret worked at Fairbanks Morse in Beloit, WI. She was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and Circle, Sons of Norway, the Westby Garden Club and Homemakers. She enjoyed volunteering at Norseland Nursing Home, Norskedalen, and for the American Red Cross. She was always ready to help other people. Hobbies she enjoyed were reading, embroidery, and traveling. She traveled to several countries and in the United States. Margaret is survived by her children: Aileen (James) Quaale of Kenyon, MN; Alexander, Jr. (Lynn) Amundson and Argyle (Jeanette) Amundson, both of Westby; her siblings: Irene Wang of Westby, and Tilford (Jan) Paulsrud of Janesville; 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a still-born daughter, and siblings: Jerry, Gertrude, Clarice, Orbeck, Clifford, and Tilford in infancy. God Bless her memory.
