Margery L. Duncan, Age 91, died Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Vernon Manor Nursing Home in Viroqua. Margery L. Duncan, age 91, of Viroqua, died Sunday, September 28, 2008 at the Vernon Manor Nursing Home in Viroqua. Margery was born August 19, 1917 in Princeton, Illinois, the daughter of Lewis and Ruth (Young-Mai) Averill. She married John M. Duncan December 2, 1939 in Davenport, Iowa. They farmed in the Viroqua area and in Sterling, Illinois. Margery received her education in Kewanee, Illinois, graduating from high school and nurses training. She was employed as an RN at CGH in Sterling for many years and also at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. She was a member of the Viroqua Church of Christ. Margery was an avid gardener and a friend to many. She is survived by her son, William (Carolyn) Duncan; three grandchildren, Dan (Robin) Duncan, Ken (Marcy) Duncan, and Tricia Terry all of Sterling, Illinois; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica Duncan, Jakob Duncan, Richard Jackley, Laura Jaeckle all of Sterling, Illinois, and Paul (Heidi) Jaeckle of Albany, New York, Susan (Rod) Miniel of Prophetstown, Illionis and Julie (Mike) Kirchoff of Dixon, Illinois; five great-great-grandchildren, Ian and Jackson Mager of Sterling, Illinois, Olivia and Alexis Miniel of Prophetstown, Illinois, and Eli Kirchoff of Dixon, Illinois; several nieces and nephews. Margery also leaves behind special friends, Mary Chaput, Roger and Judy Munson, Richard Niemyjski, Jane and Steve Thurin, and Joanne Dunnum. She was preceded in death by husband, John; her parents; brother, Clifford Averill; and sister, Dorothy Griffin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the Viroqua Church of Christ. Nathan Prong, Minister, will officiate with burial at a later date in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee, IL. Friends may call on Wednesday, October 1, from 4-7 at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main Street, (Hwy. 14 S.) in Westby. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. On line condolences may be offered at www.vosseteigfuneralhomes.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the American Lung Association, or memorials may be made to Vernon Memorial Hospice. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is assisting the family.
