Marian Halverson

Marian (Shepherd) Halverson, age 90, of Soldiers Grove, formerly of Gays Mills passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Vernon Memorial Hospital. She was born December 10, 1931, to the late Frank and Lily (Looker) Shepherd. Marian graduated from Gays Mills High School and following graduation, married Lawrence “Larry” Halverson on July 31, 1950. She was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, working several different jobs throughout her years. Marian was always happiest when surrounded by her family. Marian is survived by her three daughters: Sally (Tom) Murphy of Soldiers Grove, Heidi (Milt) Cashman of Boscobel, and Kari (Mike) Slovek of Sun Prairie; grandchildren: Amy (Brian) Gaschler, Todd (Carlene) Murphy, Troy (Kara) Murphy, Cory (Rachel) Murphy, Meghan Cashman, Hannah (Cale Plamann) Slovek, and Hattie (Brad Hopwood) Slovek; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 48 years, Larry Halverson; mother and father-in-law; and her seven siblings. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ocooch Mountain Rescue Squad in Marian's memory. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
