Marie B. Bean, age 93 of DeSoto, died Friday, July 25, 2008. Marie Berthanna (Brudos) Bean passed away Friday, July 25, 2008 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua, WI. She was born on July 4, 1915 on Nash Ridge, Ferryville,WI to Sever and Rhena (Thompson) Brudos. She was united in marriage to Irven Bean on June 24, 1939. Besides being a homemaker, Marie worked at the DeSoto High School as a custodian and as a cook/baker for the school lunch program, a cook at Sandvick's restaurant in DeSoto, the Garment Factory in LaCrosse, and the Button Factory in Lansing. She retired from the Button Factory in the mid 70's. She and Irven were also the custodians for the DeSoto Lutheran Church for a number of years before and after their retirement. After her retirement, Marie continued to garden, quilt, and bake for family and friends. Marie and Irven lived in DeSoto until moving to Maplewood Terrace (Viroqua) in September 2001. Marie moved to the Bethel Home in February 2003. She is survived by a son Roger (Mary Jane) Bean of New Lisbon, WI and a daughter Marilyn (Roger) Oliver of Port Byron, IL; eight grandchildren: Douglas (Lauren) Bean of Cottage Grove, WI; Denise Bean and fianc Rob LaRosa of Gillespie, IL; Dru Bell of Stoughton, WI; Nathan (Nichole) Oliver of Montgomery, AL; Kristen (Matthew) Reece of Davenport, IA; Jody (Jody) Grossman of Cottage Grove, WI; Lori Esser of Chicago,IL; and Lee (Carrie) Esser of Elk Mound, WI; and eight great grandchildren: Anthony Bell, Ashlee Bean, Ginelle Oliver, Aleck, Rhaena, and Micah Reece, and Sydney and Haley Grossman. A brother Archie Brudos, two sisters, Norma Olson and Eleanor Lee, and several nieces and nephews also survive her. Her parents, her husband Irven and a brother Silas Brudos, preceded her in death.Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at the DeSoto Lutheran Church, DeSoto, WI. Pastor Libby Howe will officiate, with burial in the DeSoto Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at De Soto Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the DeSoto Lutheran Church Kitchen Fund or the Bethel Home Foundation. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of De Soto is serving the family.
