Marie Cravens

Marie Cravens, 85, of Coon Valley and formerly of Mahtomedi, MN, died April 1, 2015. Marie Cravens, age 85, a short-time resident of the Bothne House in Coon Valley and formerly of Mahtomedi, MN, died April 1, 2015 at the Bland-Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care in Viroqua. Marie Elsie (Wineinger) Cravens was born July 9, 1929 in Kingman County, Kansas to Lee Tony and Ruth (Callison) Wineinger. She married Paul Edgar Cravens on August 9, 1953 in Manhattan, Kansas. They moved to Mahtomedi, MN in August 1965, where Marie resided until January 2015. She moved to Wisconsin at that time. She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Alan) Fricker of Fargo, ND and their two children Jeffery & Elisabeth, and a son, Thomas (Cathy) Cravens of Westby, WI and their children Catelyn & Justin. She is also survived by two brothers, Glen (Joyce) Wineinger & Dean (Laurel) Wineinger; a sister Erma Mandemaker; and several nieces and nephews. She was active in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, the St. Paul Sail & Power Squadron, the Northeast Diabetic Support Group, the White Bear Womens Club, a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church of Mahtomedi; and a resident of St. Andrews Village from 2009-2014. She worked at Wildwood Elementary School from 1966-1991 as a teachers aide. In 2010 she was named Washington County Senior of the Year. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Paul; a brother and a sister in law, Eldon & Joan Wineinger. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi, MN at a later date. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred. A private family service will be held and burial will take place next to her husband at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
