Marilyn Randall, 90, of Westby died Tuesday, August 21, 2012 Marilyn Rona Randall was born on June 3, 1922 in Augusta, Wisconsin to Frank H and Lissette M. (Schroeder) Randall. She was preceded in death by Alan (Sonja) Randall of Chicago, and former Sister in Law Iris (Jim) Musil of Neilsville. Niece Sophia Vaitkus (whose husband Valen is also deceased) of Mukwanego, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by close relatives, cousins Edgar Paddock and Marianne E. (Paddock) Marquardt of Augusta. She was also preceded in death by her beloved friend and chum, Ed Mraz of Madison. She is survived by extended relatives. Marilyn has left several very close friends who treasured her greatly Mrs. Danneke A. Schallig with her Granddaughter Karen Ann McGregor (Westby) and good friends Charlotte Ford, Leona Postler, Carol Hinrichs all of Madison and Judy Eness, Pat Onshus, Mary Anthony and Jim & Mary Molstad, all of Westby. Marilyn suffered from dementia which necessitated her move to Westby to live closer to Danneke. She has lived in Westby since October 21 of 2005. She quickly adapted to her apartment at Old Times Assisted Living where she found a greatly loved, spoiled cat Pearl. Further deterioration of her mind made the move to Norseland Nursing Home imperative on June 20, 2012. Marilyn led a long eventful and productive life. She graduated with honors from Madison Business College in 1942. She attended the Passion Play at Oberammergau, Germany with Pastor Horst William Jordan of Stevens Point. Her devotion to God and country were always very obvious in everything she did. She worshiped in Madison first at Calvary Lutheran Church and became a Charter Member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) of Madison for many decades. She was a member of the Valparaiso Guild, Ladies Aid of Mt. Olive, Audubon Society, her bowling group at Schwoeglers Bowling Lanes and had trophies and patches to prove it. For 37 years she worked at the Forest Products Lab in Madison. For two years her job moved her to Washington, D.C. an experience she talked about. After retirement she traveled a great deal and spent her time volunteering and driving when friends needed a ride. We will always remember this wonderful, gentle, immeasurably kind lady. Her smile will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Dennis Hallemeier will officiate with burial in the East Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
