Mark Anthony Bakkestuen

Mark Anthony Bakkestuen, 65, of Westby, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. He was born to Cyrus and Lorraine (nee’ Bekkum) Bakkestuen on June 29, 1958. He graduated from Westby High School in 1976. He helped his parents on the family farm while working with his dad as a roofer and later held various jobs in area lumber and siding businesses. Currently, he worked with his cousin, Mike Haakenson as a builder, fixer, and remodeler. He enjoyed the natural world and often photographed wildlife and landscapes. Mark also enjoyed bowling, golf, and pool. Some people only knew him by his nickname "Sharky". He was a Packers and Cubs fan.

He is survived by his sister, Cheryl Bakkestuen; brothers-in-law, Harlan Waugh and Will Buchholtz. He is also survived by numerous extended family and friends (Too Many to count).

Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kathleen Buchholtz, who was his best friend.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Vang Lutheran Church. Pastor Alyssa Weaver will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby. Additional visitation will be held Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Mark will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
