Mark Young, 53, of Viroqua, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Mark "Slab" Young, 53, of Viroqua, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Mark was born April 16, 1963 to Melvin and "Orla" Lillian (Dahl) Young in Viroqua. He went to Viroqua High School and was on the wrestling team. He was united in marriage to Lisa Proctor on August 26, 1989. Mark worked at Howard Johnson, driving forklifts, for 20 years before working for Krause Monument and La Crosse Memorials before he returned to Krause to be a shop manager. He was very proud of his daughters. Mark loved to go camping, fishing, and his dogs: Rex and Bella. Mark was a big Green Bay Packers fan and loved to watch their games. He had a great sense of humor and loved to play practical jokes, especially on Lisa, whom he loved to call "Big Momma". Mark is survived by his wife, Lisa; mother, "Orla" Young; two daughters: Melissa (Logan) and Jennifer (Alex) Young; three brothers: Mike (Gwen) Young, Larry (Theresa) Young, and Tim (Carol) Young; three sisters: Cheryl (Tom) Walsh, Lisa (Harry) McLees, and Kristi (Jeff) Buroker; four sisters-in-law: Gloria Sherer, Vivian Arttus, Marilyn Torgerson, and Arlene (Gary) Amundson; brother-in-law, Morris (Cheryl) Proctor Jr.; lots of nieces and nephews, as well as other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin; mother and father in law: Morris Sr. and Verna Proctor; three brothers-in-law: John Sherer, Roger Torgerson, and Fred Arttus; grandparents: Otto and Laura Dahl, and Aquila and Anna Allen; cousins: Billy Manders, Lori (Manders) Hoyum, and Greg Dahl; and friends that passed away Gary Krause Jr. and Rob Krause; along with many other family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Pastor Yvonne Marshall will officiate with burial to follow in the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 4-6 pm at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home (123 W Decker, Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call at the church on Friday from 10 am until the time of service at 11. In lieu of plants or flowers, memorials are preferred.
