Martha Moore

Martha Moore, 97, of Viroqua, died December 26, 2012. 544x376 Martha V. Moore, 97 of Westby, passed away Dec. 26, 2012 at Vernon Manor in Viroqua. Martha was born to Martin and Sophie (Anderson) Benrud of Cashton on December 9, 1915. Martha married William H. Moore at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cashton on Oct. 10, 1935. They were farmers near rural Westby. Martha went back to school and became a school teacher. After retiring she loved working at Grandmas Attic and her church, making many quilts and working in the kitchen. Martha is survived by her daughter Sharon (Loren) Olson of Westby; daughters-in-law, Mary Moore of Prairie City, Iowa and Carol Moore of Westby; grandsons: Robert (Julie) Moore of Indianada, IA, Randy (Ann) Moore of Tomah, Mark (Mari) Moore of Westby, Jamey (Laura) Moore of West Salem, Roger (Jody) Olson of Baldwin, Terry VanDerSluis of Prairie City; granddaughters: Kristi (Dennis) Pennel of Sparta, Dawn (Rudy) Jolovich of Cody, WY, Diane (Andy) Syring of Cody, WY Karen Routh of Colfax, and Becky Bruns of Fort Dodge; 16 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Don (Jan) Benrud of Moose Lake, MN; one sister-in-law, Jean Matthews of Onalaska; two nieces and four nephews; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William; three sons: Bruce, Allen and Kermit Moore; one daughter-in-law, Marcene Moore; one granddaughter, Rita (Moore) Oliphant; one brother James Benrud; and many beloved friends. Blessed be our memory of Martha Moore. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Dell United Methodist Church, rural Westby. Pastor Karen Bankes will officiate with burial in the Dell Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday after 10:00 a.m. at the church. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
