Martin L. Erlandson

Dr. Martin L. Erlandson, age 55 of Westby, died Thursday, June 16, 2011. Dr. Martin L. Erlandson, age 55 of Westby, died unexpectedly on Thursday evening, June 16, 2011 at Gundersen Lutheran in LaCrosse. He was born on January 22, 1956, the son of Walter and Lilah (Skundberg) Erlandson. He graduated from Westby High School and earned a Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer Chiropractic College. In May of 1977 he was united in marriage to Katherine Hanifl. Dr. Marty was a member of the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association and was a highly skilled Gonstead practitioner having served thousands of patients in the Westby area since1981 as owner and operator of the Erlandson Chiropractic Clinic. He was actively involved with the Snowflake Ski Club in several capacities including six years as president. His wit and sense of humor was enjoyed by many but understood by few. He enjoyed years of boating and was a respected mentor to many on various issues in life. He was passionate about his family, especially his granddaughter who brought great joy to his life. In addition to his wife, Kathy, he is survived by three sons: Martin E. (Jessica) Erlandson, Dr. Benjamin Erlandson, and Joe Erlandson; his granddaughter, Wrigley Katherine; one sister, Deidra "Sissy" Morrison (Phil Russell) of Westby; two brothers: Dr. Kris (Roberta) Erlandson of Westby and John Erlandson (Dawn) of Brooklyn, Wi; sister-in-law, Mary Ann (David) Ekern of West Salem; brothers-in-law, David E. (Beverly Kay) Hanifl of LaCrescent and Greg Hanifl of LaCrosse; many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Debra and one brother, Eric. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Monday, June 20, 2011 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby. Private family services will be held with burial in the Coon Prairie Cemetery, rural Westby. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
