She was born on May 14, 1937 to Ingnal and Alma (Tollefson) Sandwick at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. She was a lifetime member of South West Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Viroqua. In 1960, the family moved to LaCrosse and moved to the Losey Blvd. Group Home in 1975. In 1977 Mary attended Riverfront. The girls now have a home on Irish Court. Her friends at the home were very important to her: They were her "family". Mary was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by one sister, Donna of West Allis; a brother, Gerald (Shirley) of Viroqua; niece, Sherri Sanwick and her sons: Eric Suiter and Triston Sanwick of Dubuque, Iowa; nephews: Steven (Janet) Sanwick of Viroqua and their children: Kori and Addie Hillestad and Braden Sanwick, and Alan (Vicki) Sanwick of LaCrosse and their children: Emily and Caleb. Mary was a very social person. When we took her out she always saw people she knew. She loved children, especially her niece and nephews. She loved her coffee and music and singing. Mary will be truly missed by all those who knew her and loved her. Blessed be our memory of Mary Alice Sandwick. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at South West Prairie Lutheran Church. Pastor Grant Van Lishout will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
