Mary C. Gronemus, age 87 of Viroqua died Thursday, June 4, 2015. Mary C. Gronemus, age 87 of Viroqua died Thursday, June 4, 2015. She was born on February 15, 1928 in Monroe County, Wisconsin to Anton and Margaret (Lueck) Flock. After high school Mary attended St. Francis Nursing School and then worked for a short time at St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse. On August 22, 1950 she was united in marriage to LeRoy Gronemus and together they farmed until 1973. Mary worked at the Vernon Manor in Viroqua for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Viroqua and was also a member of the quilters. LeRoy and Mary moved to Viroqua in 1993 and LeRoy died on January 12, 2002. Mary is survived by her six children: Dan (Catherine) Gronemus of Madison, Don (Connie) Gronemus of Cuba City, David (Robin) Gronemus of Chesapeake, VA, Tom (Lindy Jewett, fiance) Gronemus of Viroqua, Jean (Tom) Myhre of LaCrosse and Sue (Scott) Schmitz of Cashton; 12 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; three siblings: Joe (Marlene) Flock of Cashton, Jerry (Beverly) Flock of Green Bay and Jean Gardner of Palm Dale, CA; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three siblings: infant brother James and two brothers, Sylvester and Frank Flock. Blessed be our memory of Mary Catherine Gronemus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic church in Viroqua. Marys nephew, Bishop Robert Flock will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, rural Cashton. A visitation/wake will be on Monday from 4-6 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker St (Hwy 56) in Viroqua and will continue on Tuesday at the church after 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be made to the Parish of The Holy Cross in Santa Cruz, Boliva % St. Marys Parish in Viroqua OR may be made to St. Marys Catholic Church in Viroqua. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
