Mary Alice Eick

Mary Alice Eick, age 83, of Westby, WI passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026. She was born on July 16, 1943, to Ray and Vada Maloy in Waverly, IA. She grew up on the family farm where she enjoyed animals, particularly horses and cats.

She attended Waverly-Shell Rock High School, where she especially enjoyed English literature and gymnastics. She enjoyed going to the movies, going on family vacations, and fishing, even more so in Canada.

She married Fred Eick Jr., in 1961. They first lived in Iowa and later moved to Wisconsin where they farmed. She spent a lot of time in her garden and canning vegetables, and she enjoyed painting.

In 1983, after divorcing, she became a nurse’s aide and continued in that profession until she retired. She then moved in with her daughter Kathy and Kathy’s husband Dave on a farm, where she made many stray cats very happy.

She enjoyed living in the country feeding birds and raising fruits and vegetables. She also enjoyed taking trips with her children and grandchildren, especially to Hawaii with all her children and a grandchild.

She is survived by her sisters Ellen, Bonnie, and Nancy; her children Jeff (MaryLou) Eick, Linda (Bryan) Call, Betty (Eric) Olson, and Kathy (Dave) Clark; her grandchildren Teddy Eick, Jason, Jennifer, Justin, and Josh Call, Brittany (Henderson) and Taylor Ludwig and Kyle and Ryan Clark; and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, David and George.

She is remembered by all for her kindness and generous spirit, always thinking of others before herself.

A visitation will be held at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. followed by a short service at 1:00 p.m. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
