Mary Jane Jacobson

Mary Jane Jacobson, age 81 of Westby, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, surrounded by loving family at Vernon Manor after a brief illness.

Mary was born on June 30, 1942, in Westby, WI to Ingolf and Mabel (Johnson) Mikkelson. She was baptized and confirmed at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church in Westby. Mary graduated from Westby High School in 1961. She married Gary Jacobson on October 30, 1965, at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church.

After high school, Mary worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Madison until she married Gary. Mary was a devoted wife and mother and was a loving care giver to her husband, Gary, during his battle with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia and subsequent bone marrow transplant.

Mary is survived her daughter, Lisa of Westby; brother-in-law, Mark (Susan) Jacobson of Westby; and sister-in-law, Pat Jacobson of Cary, IL. She is also survived by nephews, Todd (Jeanette) Jacobson, Eric (Nina) Jacobson, and Jed Jacobson; and niece, Jennifer (Bram) Vollebregt.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Jacobson and her brother-in-law, Bruce Jacobson.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Mary Jane and Gary will both be laid to rest at Westby Coon Prairie Cemetery with a luncheon to be held at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby.
