Mary Jeanne Chauvette, 90, of Viola died Sunday, March 16, 2014. Our dear grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt Mary Jeanne Hunter Chauvette passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014, at the age of 90. Mary Jeanne was born in Elk Creek, Wis., on June 3, 1923 to Leon and Mable (Sommers) Hunter. The family lived in Gillingham, Wis., until Mary Jeanne was in the 4th grade then they moved to Viola, Wis., She attended Viola High School and was in the marching band and won many award pins for her solos with the snare drum. She graduated in 1941. In July of 1943 she had a son, David Hunter, who was her pride and joy. She lived in Richland Center for many years and worked for Richland Hospital. Around 1975 Mary Jeanne moved to Utah for several years. There she obtained her LPN in nursing and worked for St Marks Hospital. Mary Jeanne later moved back to Viola, to care for her mother and be close to her family. She worked at Pine Valley Nursing Home in Richland Center until her retirement. Mary Jeanne is survived by her three grandchildren: Paula (Brent) Menlove of Salt Lake City, Utah, Lisa (Jerry) Lee of Boise, Idaho, and Robert (Kelly Rae) Hunter of North Branch, Minnesota; eight great-grandchildren: Gregory, Derrick (Jenika), Jacob, Nicholas (Lauren), Jordan, Hunter, Seth, and Sadie. She is also survived by two sisters: Phyllis Perry and Lorraine White; two sisters-in-law: Mary Ann Hunter and Margaret Hunter; and lots of nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her son, David Hunter; her brothers: Bill, Jack, and Herb; and her parents, Leon and Mable Hunter. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful and caring staff at Vernon Manor and Vernon Memorial Hospital Dialysis Unit for taking such good care of Mary Jeanne over the last few years. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at the Viola United Methodist Church. Pastor Karen Bankes will officiate with burial to follow in the Viola Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11. The Vosseteig Funeral Homes Henthorn Memorial Center of Viola is serving the family.
