Mary Kathryn Walsh

Mary Kathryn Walsh, 68, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday June 16, 2023. Mary was born on May 27, 1955, to the late John Thomas and Ramona (Larson) Walsh. She graduated from North Crawford High School in 1973. She went into the workforce and worked many jobs over the years, until health issues limited her ability to work. Her greatest joy in her life was her daughter Ashley and later her grandchildren Avalyn and Carson and of course, her favorite son-in-law, Eric. Over the years, she enjoyed caring for children including her nieces, nephews and later her grandchildren. She married Jim Maybee on March 11, 2000, and together they had 3 fur-babies—Shilo, Buffy and George. They later divorced.

Mary lived her early life to the fullest. She loved with her whole heart, but if you crossed her, she never forgot it. She was an avid pool shark, loved gambling, bar hopping, playing cards with her family, dancing, singing to her favorite songs on the radio, playing horseshoes, tending to her many house plants—which we all knew she could make anything grow, and baking her yummy breads and meatloaf.

Mary is survived by one daughter, Ashley (Eric) Hady; grandchildren, Avalyn and Carson Hady; siblings, Tom (Cheryl) Walsh Jr, Susan Kemp, Patrick (Ruth) Walsh, Michael (Marla) Walsh, Lisa Walsh, Robert (Kristin) Walsh, Mathew (Karen) Walsh, and Jo Ellen Chamberlain; nieces and nephews, Dennis, Clay, Tyson, Mark, Jeff, Travis, Jeremy, Ryan, Brian, Brandon, Brittney, Amanda, Jason, Crystal, Sydnee, Logan, Theron, Charmaine, Cole, Maddie, Gus, Brianna, John, Jordan, Maddelyn, Klayreese, Allexzandrya, Annalesse, and Allivheiya; Aunts, Joan Walsh, Phyliss Larson, Florence Campbell, Mary Jane Larson, Vic Larson and Deidre Larson; and many other relatives and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her infant son, Jonathan Ille Walsh; her parents, John Thomas and Ramona (Larson) Walsh; Brother-in-law, Kenneth Kemp; Uncles, Paul Walsh, Lawrence Walsh, James Michael Walsh, Robert Walsh, Terry Larson, Mike Larson, Cecil Larson, Philip Larson, Burlie Campbell; Aunts, Mary Faye Ostenson, Katherine Walsh, and Chris Larson.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon will be held at the Soldiers Grove American Legion following the service. Mary will be laid to rest at the Gays Mills Cemetery at a later date.
