Mary Phyllis Hadley, age 79 of Viola, died May 31, 2006 at the Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. She was born in Vernon County on July 29, 1926 to Cortland and Elizabeth (Knapp) Appleman. She married Lawrence Hadley on November 17, 1945. She attended the Viola United Methodist Church and enjoyed her family. She especially enjoyed being a grandma and great-grandma. She is survived by her children: Diana (Gene) Paulus and Dorothy (Steve) Sutton of Madison; Donna (DuWayne) Hummel of Sun Prairie; David and Dan (Chris) Hadley, both of Viola; Denise (Bob) Moore of Oregon, and Lynn (Rick) Gillitzer of Evansville as well as 15 Grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by siblings: Margaret Olson of Barron; Ken (Wilma) Appleman of Fulton, IL; Calvin (Bernadine) Appleman of LaFarge; and Margie "Bud" Nemec of LaFarge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; son Larry; daughter Lori; sisters: Mabel Dickau and Maggie Hall; and brothers: Phillip and Henry Appleman. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2006 at the Viola United Methodist Church. Pastor Doris Clark will officiate with burial in the Bear Creek Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4 7 p.m. at Vosseteig Funeral Homes Henthorn Memorial Center, 129 South Main (Hwy 56), Viola; or on Saturday after 12:00 noon at the church. The Vosseteig Funeral Homes Henthorn Memorial Center of Viola is serving the family.
