Mason Steven Mageland

September 12, 2001 — July 28, 2024

Mason Steven Mageland, a gentle and creative soul, left this world too soon on July 28, 2024, at the age of 22. Born on September 12, 2001, in Viroqua, Wisconsin, Mason's thoughtful nature and warm presence touched the lives of many throughout his journey.

Mason's early years were spent taking care of his grandparents. His love for nature was evident in his passion for camping and his avid interest in gun collecting. Mason's creative spirit shone through in every aspect of his life, from his hobbies to his interactions with those around him.

A proud graduate of Westby High School's class of 2020, Mason carried the values of his education with him as he ventured into the world. His work at La Crosse Beverage was a testament to his strong work ethic and his ability to connect with colleagues and customers alike. Mason's commitment to his community was further demonstrated through his active membership in the Westby Rod & Gun Club and his confirmation at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church.

Family was the cornerstone of Mason's life. He is survived by his father, Mike Mageland; his uncles, Gary "George" Mageland and Brad Johnson; his aunts, Brenda (Chuck) Noggle and Stephanie (Kyle) Hanson; his grandparents, Steve and Evie Larson; his sisters, Morgan Lepke, Madisyn and Macey Miller; his nephew, Karson Visgar; and several loving cousins. Mason's special friend, Jason Shafer, along with other relatives, numerous friends, and his loyal dog, Fritz, also mourn his loss. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories of time spent with Mason, whose presence made every gathering brighter.

Mason's passing was preceded by his mother, Stacie Larson; his grandparents, Merlin and Lorraine Mageland; his uncle, David Mageland; his aunt, Gretchen Johnson; and his beloved dog, Wiggles. His memory will be a guiding light for those he left behind, a reminder of his gentle and thoughtful approach to life.

Mason's pride and joy was his Ford LTD 2, a treasure he bought from his grandma Evie. This classic car was more than just a vehicle to Mason; it was a symbol of his connection to his family's history and his own independence.

Mason's life, though brief, was a canvas painted with love, laughter, and the pursuit of happiness. His quiet and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. The world has lost a kind and gentle soul, but the impact of Mason's life will continue to inspire those who carry his memory.

As we bid farewell to Mason Steven Mageland, we celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy of kindness, creativity, and love. His journey on this earth has ended, but the stories and memories he created will be treasured by his family and friends forever. Mason's spirit will remain a beacon of light, guiding us through the days ahead with the same thoughtfulness and gentleness that he embodied in life.
