Maxine E. Skemp, age 81 of LaCrosse and formerly of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, February 10, 2009. Maxine E. Skemp, age 81, formerly of Hillsboro, died on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse. She was born April 16, 1927 to William and Angela (Winkler) Droessler in Potosi, Wis. On April 23, 1945 she married Harvey Skemp in Tennyson, Wis., and he preceded her in death on July 7, 1974.Maxine is survived by six children: Susan Skemp of La Crosse, Wis., Al (Doris) Skemp of Kendall, Wis., Samuel (Julie) Skemp of Sun Prairie, Wis., Terry (Gail) Skemp of West Salem, Wis., Kevin (Kathi) Skemp of Omaha, NE, and Lisa (Tim) Thornton of La Crosse, Wis.; grandchildren: Chad (Jen) Skemp, Kristin (Jeff) Meckley, Laura (Lee) Deal, Jeremy (Nikki) Skemp, Max Thornton, Melissa (Jason) Haberman, Bill Clark, Charles Clark (Cristina), Angie Novy, Kristie (Mitch) McCoic, and Kim (Dan) McCormick; great-grandchildren: Danielle, Emma, Tessa, Julius, Ace, Raine, Maddox, Andy, Brandon, John, Hannah, Jacob, Casey, and Ryan; one brother William (Gail) Droessler of Rockford, Ill and sister-in-law, Ruth Droessler of Lancaster, Wis.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey; two brothers: Joseph (Henrietta) Droessler and Don (Marie) Droessler; three sisters: Rita (Lloyd) Udelhofen; Beulah (Dan) Loeffelholz, and Rose (Karl) Zart; and her daughter-in-law, Cindy Skemp. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Main Street, (Hwy 14 S), in Westby. Father Robert J. Cook will officiate. Private burial will be in the St. Joseph Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Westby. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
