Maynard E. Pederson

b. June 9, 1944

Maynard was born June 9, 1944, in La Crosse, WI to Eva and Eddie Pederson (Ellefson). He graduated from Viroqua High School in 1962. Throughout his school years, he worked on his father and grandfathers farm. On October 24,1970, Maynard married Ruth Williams. Maynard and Ruth took over the family farm and raised their family on the farm and still live there today. Maynard drove school bus for Viroqua Area Schools for 10 years and told many stories about the children. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was strongly committed to his Lutheran faith. Maynard loved Nascar and he rarely missed a race. He also enjoyed farming and working hard. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a joy to be around. Maynard and Ruth enjoyed traveling and took many trips together. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two daughters: Michelle (Joe) Gavin of Genoa, WI and Amy (Bill) DeBruyckere of St. Charles, MN; three grandchildren: Paul Gavin, Madelyn DeBruyckere and Tyler DeBruyckere; father-in law James Williams; three Brother-in laws: Dan Williams, Jim (Lori) Williams, David (Lisa) Williams; Sister-in law: Cindy Smith, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers in infancy: John and Larry; mother-in law Rose Williams; and sister-in-law Joanne Williams. He will be greatly missed by family and many close friends. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Viroqua with Pastor Pete Beckstrand officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 - 11 a.m., Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
