Maynard Sanwick

Maynard Sanwick, 68, of Viroqua, died Friday, March 30, 2018. Maynard Alvin Sanwick, age 68, of Viroqua, passed away peacefully, Friday March 30, 2018 at the Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice Care surrounded by loved ones and caregivers. Maynard was born in Viroqua on April 27, 1949 to Alvin and Mildred (Thompson) Sanwick. Maynard married Gloria Overgard on September 26, 1970 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cashton. Together they raised three loving children, Brian, Cathy and Sarah. Maynard held a number of jobs including farming and driving dairy trucks. It was in driving, that he found his lifes pursuit, driving trucks for the Schilling Paper Co. of LaCrosse. He retired from Schilling after 22 years of service. Maynard enjoyed fishing and loved spending time in his garden. But his greatest joy in life was sharing his time with family and especially teasing the grandkids, or being with his special friend Duane (Gladys) Wallin. Maynard is survived by: his wife of 47 years Gloria, his three children Brian (Kaylee) Sanwick, Cathy (Jeff) Siverhus and Sarah Billington, 17 grandchildren; Logan, Luke and Hope Sanwick, Amanda (Scott) Bjornstad, Brad Siverhus, Caity (Jake) Lueck, Connie (Jeremy) Norris and Caroline, Charles, Maryellen and Kimberly Siverhus, Alexandra (Shannon) Billington, Isaac, Chloe, Kianna, Ayden and Sophia Billington as well as 6 great-grandchildren; Diesel, Remington and Arctic Bjornstad, Gunner and Colten Lueck, and Kiley Norris. Also still surviving are; a brother Norman (Lois) Sanwick, a sister Marlene Sanwick, and sisters and brothers-in-law Helen Overgard, Carol (Bill) Kast and Jean (Richard) Mades, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by: his parents Alvin and Mildred, his sister Ann Sanwick, a brother and sister-in-law Fred (Edith) Sanwick, a grandson Isaiah Billington, a nephew Wayne Sanwick and his In-laws Leonard and Pearl Overgard. Funeral Services for Maynard will be held Friday, April 6, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the North Coon Prairie Lutheran Church in Newry (Route 27 northeast of Westby). Pastor Gary Daines will officiate with burial and Military Honors immediately following the service in the Church cemetery. Friends may call during a Visitation at the Church one-hour before the service from 12noon to 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials should be directed to Bethel Butikk or the family.
