Melissa "Missy" Karis

Melissa “Missy” Karis, age 43, of Viroqua, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021. She was born November 21, 1977, to David and Mary Lundgren. Melissa graduated from Viroqua High School in 1996. After graduating, she worked at a couple of different farms near Cashton. She briefly worked in Lansing at a factory and after her daughter Stephanie was born, Melissa decided to stay home to care for her. Melissa was known for her love of gardening, camping, fishing, and her numerous pets over the years, ranging from horses to cats to dogs. She had a passion for decorating for seasons and holidays, especially her Christmas tree lights. She enjoyed listening to country music and watching The Golden Girls. Melissa is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Karis; her mother and step-father, Mary (Mark) Ames; nieces and nephews: Samantha, Kyle, and Allaina; boyfriend, Ken “Butch” Hooverson; former husband, Kevin Karis; and her dog, Sadie. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Krista Lundgren. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 29, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home.
