Melvin "Mike" Jacob Buckles, age 85, died February 28, 2007 Melvin "Mike" Jacob Buckles, age 85, died February 28, 2007 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua, WI. He was born March 4, 1921 in Vernon County to Frank and Julia (Nelson) Buckles. He farmed in Vernon County most of his life. He later moved into Viroqua. He was a member of the Christian Businessmens Committee and the Gideons. He was a life-time member of the Northwest Prairie Lutheran Church. Melvin is survived by one sister, Ruth (Mykolas) Ancius, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and three sisters. Clarence (Dorothy) Buckles, Edwin Buckles, Francis (Frances) Buckles, Effie Buckles, George (Reba) Buckles, Florence (Alfred) Gibbs, Elmer Buckles, Henry (Jenny) Buckles, Willard Buckles, and Lucille (Ted) Ishihara. Mike was looking forward to spending eternity with Jesus. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Pastor John Eumurian will officiate with burial in the Northwest Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday after 2:00 p.m. at Vossseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 West Decker Street (Hwy. 56 West), Viroqua, WI. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
