Merlin Hisel

Merlin Hisel, age 86, of Viola, WI, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021. He was born August 17, 1935, to the late Eara and Annie (Caucutt) Hisel. He attended and graduated from La Farge High School. After graduation, he continued to farm with his father on the family farm until he bought it from his parents. He farmed for many years; then he began to drive truck for Heding Trucking, where he worked for about 20 years. Right before he changed careers, he married La Vonne Mae Fox on May 5, 1984, at the La Farge Methodist Church. Merlin and La Vonne enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling south for the winter. He was an avid reader and loved to watch his western movies. The most important thing to Merlin was his family, especially his son and his step-children. Merlin is survived by his wife, La Vonne Hisel; son, Mike Hisel; step-children: Linda Kroscher, Kathy Andersen, Sandy (Steve) Peterson, Mary Rusk, Gwen (Michael) Young, Spencer (Angie) Fox Jr.; 15 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Orville, Bob, Marie Waurzazek, Iris Nofsinger, Thalia Ellefson, and Beverly Nofsinger. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 5, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at the La Farge Free Methodist Church. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
