Merlin Kumlin

Merlin Kumlin, 92, of De Soto died Monday, January 23, 2012 Merlin E. Kumlin, age 92, of De Soto passed away peacefully on January 23, 2012. Merlin was born December 6, 1919 to Will and Lena Kumlin. He married Vada Yttri on October 28, 1950 and together they had three children. Merlin was a World War II Veteran and farmed his entire life in De Soto while working part time as a patrolman for Wheatland Township in his younger years. Merlin loved his dancing, his family and his farm. He is survived by his son Gary (Vickie); two daughters, Lana (Jim) Goldsmith and Linda Davis; six grandchildren: Kenneth, Andrea, Adam, Mandi, Sheri, Bobby; five great- grandchildren; one great- great-grandchild; sisters Elaine Slack and Verna Sallander; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Vada; son-in-law Dave Davis; sister Dorothy Stromstad and brother Vernon. Merlin was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Vosseteig and Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Homes are serving the family.
