Michael J. Allbaugh

February 18, 1967 — May 13, 2022

Michael J. Allbaugh, age 55, of Mt. Sterling, passed away in his home Friday afternoon, May 13, 2022. Mike was born on February 18, 1967, to Pat (Turnipseed) and Chuck Allbaugh. Although Mike moved around a bit in his youth he considered the Gays Mills area to be his home. In 1986, Mike joined the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served his country until 1992 and then continued to serve his country in the National Guard until 1997. On July 9, 1988, Mike married his high school sweetheart Amy Anderson, and together they had three children; Curtis, Amanda, and Brady. Mike loved doing things with his kids, especially sports, and was never happier than when he was coaching them or playing on a team with them as adults. After six years together Mike married Tina (Mahan) Sidie on July 28, 2018. Together they raised Tina’s two daughters, started their own business, and bought their dream property where Mike would spend any free time he had. Mike has always been a huge supporter of his community; coordinating the Apple Fest run/walk annually and coaching varsity Track, Cross Country, and Basketball with his good friend Gary Hines for more than 20 years at North Crawford High School. Mike is known as ‘Coach” to hundreds of local athletes who would seek him out long after high school for coaching advice and whom; like his family, could quickly find Mike in a crowd by listening for his signature “caw-caw”. Mike took great pride in the positive impact he was able to have on his community and loved to mention that he had run the Boston Marathon. Mike loved to camp and go UTVing with friends and family and thought that all-inclusive resorts were the most amazing idea ever. He thought he was a great singer (he was not) and constantly claimed to be ‘inventing’ items that unfortunately were already invented by somebody else. Mike hated being cold and friends would joke of the attire changes required to visit as his home was never cooler than 76 degrees. Mike also hated to lose. At anything… ever. Cribbage, blackjack, bags, bowling, basketball, pool, anything where there could possibly be a loser and a winner Mike had to be on the winning side. Mike had the warmest smile and a huge heart and has forever impacted the world he left behind. Survivors include his wife, Tina Allbaugh; three children, Curtis Allbaugh, Amanda (Kyle) Braun, and Brady Allbaugh; two step-daughters, Tiana and Briana Sidie; one grandson, William Braun; his mother, Patricia Pursell; his brother, Charles Allbaugh, his sister, Julie (Randy) Meinen; brother, Jason Pursell; sisters, Jenni (Donny) Pursell; Liz (Jason) Perkins; Stepmom, Cheryl Allbaugh; several nieces and nephews; countless loved ones and many friends. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Charles Allbaugh, and his stepfather; Larry Pursell. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family are appreciated.
