Michael Lovelace

February 8, 1954 — December 18, 2024

Michael Lovelace, age 70, Nekoosa native, passed away on December 18, 2024, from medical complications. Michael was born February 8th, 1954, in Wisconsin Rapids, to Virgene and Mike Wallace. Virgene later married James Lovelace and he adopted Michael as their son.

He was raised in rural Nekoosa and graduated from Nekoosa High School in 1972. Michael worked as a mechanic and a well driller. Known for his caring nature, he was always willing to help family and neighbors with car and home repairs. There wasn’t much he couldn’t fix, and he generously shared his knowledge with others. Michael had a passion for gardening, especially growing tomatoes, while protecting them from deer.

In September 1974, Michael married Debbie Bubolz at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Wisconsin Rapids. Debbie was the love of his life. They purchased a home in Nekoosa and raised their family there. After 35 years in Nekoosa, they sold their home in 2019 to move closer to their sons in southwest Wisconsin. This year they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Michael had a great sense of humor and often teased, bringing smiles to everyone around him.

Remaining to cherish Michael’s memory are his wife, Debbie; sons, Adam (Viroqua) and Kent (Stoddard); Adam’s wife, Anne, and their children Adalene, Tucker, and Elliott; Michael’s sisters, Tammy Oleson, Melinda Wallace, Wendy Olson, and Melissa Wallace; brother, Kelly Lovelace; brother-in-law, Kent Bubolz; many loved nieces, nephews, family, friends, and dogs Brandy and Star.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Virgene Lovelace; his father, Michael Wallace; his in-laws, Alvin and Margie Bubolz; and his great-nephew, Jasper James Butzlaff. We imagine the joy and excitement in his dark blue eyes as he greets these loved ones in heaven.

In accordance with Mike’s wishes there will be no formal service. A celebration of life will be held for family and friends in the spring and his remains will be interred in a family plot in Grand Marsh, WI. Condolences can be sent to Vosseteig Funeral Home, PO Box 88, Viroqua, WI 54665.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of La Crescent Health Services and Soldiers Grove Health Services for their compassionate care.
