Michelle Lynn Donovan

Michelle Lynn Donovan, age 51, of La Farge, WI passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Saturday, October 5, 2024. Michelle was born in Viroqua, WI to Steve and Gail Donovan on January 25th, 1973. She grew up in La Farge, Wisconsin where she attended school K-12. She graduated in 1991 at the top of her class, where she excelled in both academics and athletics, All- Conference in both Volleyball and Softball, earning the team Most Valuable Player award in Softball. She also received the highest athletic honors at La Farge High School earning the Jim Funnel award as well as the top Senior Athlete Award.

After High School Michelle attended UW-Stout where she earned her bachelor’s degree in hospitality for Hotel and Restaurant Management. While at UW-Stout she also played Softball for one year. After graduating she embarked on a 30 year adventure where her career took her all over the country starting in Lake Geneva, WI with the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa, to Marco Island, Florida working at the Hilton, as well as Fairfax, Virginia just outside of Washington DC, Pittsburg, PA, Columbus, Ohio, Atlanta, Georgia, Baltimore, Maryland, finally able to return to La Farge thanks to her role with Crescent Hotels as a Corporate Vice President of Operations, allowing her to work at home, where she was able to spend more time closer to her family and friends that were so important to her, though travelling often to the many, many hotels under her care across the country. Throughout her career she worked herself from being the manager of the Grand Cafe in Lake Geneva to the Vice President of Operations for Hotels in many of the largest cities in the world.

As hard as Michelle worked at her career, her family and friends were always number one in her heart and mind, especially her brothers Chris, Cole and Brett, and her lifelong childhood friends she never lost contact with that she considers her sisters. No matter how far away she was, she was only a phone call away, and if she was needed, she would be on the first flight home. Michelle lit up any room she was in, no matter where she was, everyone felt at home, nobody was a stranger to Michelle, only a friend yet to be made. Michelle was never a stranger to a great meal and a glass of red wine.

In Michelle’s recent life she has found comfort in her new relationships close to home, her friends and her boyfriend for the last 3 years, Stacy Myers. Together with their group of “Supper Club Club” friends, they travelled through the state on Friday nights to various fine dining establishments, leaving us all waiting to see the pictures on Facebook of where they had been that night.

Michelle also loved being an aunt to Amber and Joey Donovan, and making sure they were always spoiled throughout their lives, making memories together she always cherished, especially on Holidays.

Survivors include her brothers, Chris (Shawna Schroeder) Donovan, Cole Donovan, and Brett Donovan; her niece and nephew, Amber (Mitchell) Kranz and Joey Donovan; her life partner, Stacy Myers and his sons, Derek and Ricky Myers; her grandma, Grace Bergum; several aunts and uncles; other relatives and numerous friends.

Michelle was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, and her uncle, Drew Bergum.

Memorials in Michelle’s name are appreciated to the La Farge Public Schools Scholarship Fund.

A Funeral Service for Michelle will be held at Noon on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the La Farge Free Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Michelle will be laid to rest at the Bear Creek Cemetery, La Farge. A celebration of her life will follow at the Rockton Bar in Rockton, WI. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
