Mildred Lorraine Nettum, December 20, 2005 Mildred Lorraine Nettum, age 84 of Viroqua, died December 20, 2005 at the Bethel Home. Mildred was born August 23, 1921 to Louise and Ferdinand Gessert of Edgerton, Wisconsin. She graduated from Edgerton High School in the class of 1939 and was also a graduate of the Groves Barnhardt Business College in Madison, WI. She married George Nettum, also a resident of Edgerton, during WWII at the Santa Anna Air Force Base in Santa Anna, California on March 4, 1943. The couple has resided in Viroqua for over 52 years, most of their married life. Mildred was a homemaker who was proud of raising her sons, and was an active member of the Mary Circle at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing bridge, sewing, and especially enjoyed knitting and quilting. Surviving are her husband, George Nettum, manager of the Viroqua Tobacco Pool for 54 years; three sons and their families: John (Mary Sue) Nettum and their son, Nathaniel of College Station, TX; Dr. Scott (Billie) Nettum of DeForest and children: Matt (Dee) Coburn of Littleton, CO; and Danielle (Scott) DuRouche of Minneapolis, MN; Dr. James (Viki) Nettum and children: Signe, James, Thomas, Michael, and Monica. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister.
