Mildred M. Nordmann, age 100, of Readstown, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Pine Valley Community Village in Richland Center. She was born on October 1, 1925, in Pennsylvania to Harvey and Ada (Kline) Walborn. She grew up on the family farm in Pennsylvania and attended school in a one room schoolhouse where the students spoke Pennsylvania Dutch and had to learn English. She entered the Myerstown High School at the age of 13. She graduated June 6, 1942, and then worked as a waitress at the Little Crystal Restaurant. While she was working at the restaurant, she met Vern Nordmann while he was stationed at Indian Town Gap Military Base in Hershey, Pennsylvania. They married on October 13, 1945. After they got married, they farmed for many years in Pennsylvania before purchasing a farm in the Viola area in 1962. She worked at O'Brien Brothers in Richland Center for about 25 years and later worked at Gables Restaurant in Richland Center until the restaurant closed. She then worked at Kickapoo Corners in Readstown until her retirement in her 90's. She was a lifelong member of the Richland Center VFW Auxiliary Post 2267 as well as a lifelong member of the Ladies of the Purple Heart in La Crosse. Mildred loved to make desserts of all kinds as well as homemade potato salad. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and making quilts.

Survivors include her Alta (Felix) Sutton or Richland Center, Verna Smith, and Donna (Mark) Piskos, her grandchildren, Linda (Jim) Birch, Deb (Scott) Goplen, Laura Curtis, Kevin Curtis, Tim (Kim) Nordmann, Dr. Edward (Sara) Smith and Shelia Smith; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vern Nordmann; her father and mother-in-law, Henry and Isa Nordmann; sisters-in-law, Dora Thorn and Mary Eastman; son-in-law, Larry Smith; and an infant grandson, William Smith.
