Mildred O. Zitzner, 83, of Viroqua, died July 26, 2009. Mildred Orla Zitzner, 83, of Viroqua died Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse. Mildred was born November 8, 1925 to Hilmer and Lida (Holan) Hooverson of Vernon County. On February 14, 1945, Mildred was united with Gaylord Zitzner into a marriage that would last over 53 years. Mildred spent her life working the farm and was a very active member of Liberty Pole United Methodist Church and the Naomi Circle. Mildred was known as a very loving mother and grandmother; she was also an excellent cook Mildred is survived by her children Diane (Jerry) DeLap, Conrad (Irene) Zitzner, Dennis (Cheryl) Zitzner; grandchildren Luke Zitzner, Aaron Zitzner, Jessica Peroceschi, Angie Karwoski, Danny Zitzner, Lacey Zitzner, Heather DeLap and Portia Burckhardt; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings Selmer "Sam" (Barb) Hooverson, Kenny (Shirley) Hooverson, Myrtle Yanske, Matilda Fortun; half-sister Hazel Gabrielson, sister-in-law Goldie Hooverson; brother-in-law Calvin Thompson; and very special friend Helen Zitzner. She is preceded in death by her husband Gaylord Zitzner; 9 siblings; and one half-brother. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2009, at the Liberty Pole United Methodist Church. Pastor Ethan Larson will officiate with burial to follow at Liberty Pole Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family. .
