Mildred Stove

Mildred Stove, age 100, passed away peacefully at Hillview Health Care Center on May 22, 2020. She was born December 29, 1919, to Nels and Julia (Munson) Stove of Seneca, WI. Mildred was a lifelong member of Utica Lutheran Church, where she was Baptized and Confirmed. She was active in the Rachael circle at Utica Lutheran Church and the Dorcas circle at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in La Crosse, WI. Mildred graduated from Seneca High School, as Valedictorian, on May 24, 1938. Following graduation, she moved to La Crosse where she was employed by La Crosse Garment Company. She had the pleasure of serving as personal secretary for two of the company’s presidents; Walter Baeder and Terry Gillette respectively. Following her retirement, Mildred made her home in Mt. Sterling, WI. In 2016, she moved to Hillview Terrace Assisted Living, La Crosse. Mildred is survived by four nieces; Nancy (Robert) Wheeler of Colorado Springs, CO, Kathleen (Jerry) Rasmussen of Hayward, WI, Claudette (James) Giblin of La Crosse, WI and Connie (James) Allen of Middleton, WI as well as eleven great-nieces and nephews and thirteen great-great-nieces and nephews. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents Nels and Julia Stove; three brothers, Milner Stove, Elmer Stove and Marvin Stove; three sisters, Clara Stove, Ella Leithold and Gladys Stove; a niece Marilyn Spink and two sisters-in-law, Mabel Stove and Edna Stove. A private graveside service will be held at Utica Lutheran Church with Pastor Niles Sandeen officiating. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Hillview Health Care Center, particularly those on the 400 wing and the Recreation staff, for their excellent care. In addition, the family would like to express their gratitude to her Church family for their friendship, support and assistance which allowed her to remain in her home for as long as possible.
