Mildred Unseth

Mildred Unseth, 102, of Genoa, died Sunday, May 17, 2015. Mildred Bessie (Hooverson) Unseth, age 102, oldest daughter of Sever and Anna Sophie (Stegne) Hooverson, was born at Folsom, WI, June 28, 1912, baptized and confirmed at North Kickapoo Church and graduated from Viroqua High School in 1930. She graduated from Vernon County Normal School and taught school at Folsom and Lepke schools for six years. Mildred married Truman L. Unseth July 15, 1937 at Immanuel parsonage in Clinton, Iowa by Rev. R. V. Johnson. They farmed in the Westby, Liberty Pole and Genoa areas. Mildred was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and had served several offices of the womens groups. She was also a volunteer at the Bethel Home. Mildred became a resident of the Bethel Home in September of 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Truman on June 29, 1986; son, Truman Unseth, Jr. on March 31, 2011 and daughter-in-law, Mary (Way) Unseth on April 24, 2012; sisters: Esther Hooverson, Harriet (Bill) Martin of Skokie, IL, Ada (Tom) Burns of Jacksonville, FL, and an infant sister and infant brother; special sister-in-law, Alberta (Bill) Eggen; nieces: Kathy and Linda Martin. She is survived by two sons: Arden (Ellen) of Viroqua and Ron (JoAnn) of Genoa; 10 grandchildren: Travis Unseth, Jason (Gina) Unseth, Sherry (Todd) Vieth, Trevor Unseth, Virginia (DJ) McNamer; Stephanie Unseth, Bjorn (Sharde) Unseth, Anders (Tonia) Unseth; Rachel Unseth, Andrew Unseth; 12 great-grandchildren; two step-great grandsons; several nieces and nephews. Blessed be our memory of Mildred Bessie Unseth. Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church. Pastor Pete Beckstrand will officiate with burial to follow in the Zion Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers and plants memorial may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church.
