Minnie Olive Fortun, age 94, of Westby, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 14, 2023, while surrounded by family at Norseland Nursing Home. Minnie was born on February 3, 1929, to Henry and Emily Hanson. She was Salutatorian of her high school class and shortly after married her high school sweetheart, Adrian Fortun on February 3, 1947. They had celebrated 71 years of marriage together. She was a farmer’s wife and raised five wonderful children. After their time farming, she and Adrian moved to Westby where she worked at the Westby Co-Op Creamery. Minnie was an excellent seamstress and was a very active volunteer with Bethesda Lutheran Church. She made many God honoring and Christ centered banners that still hang in the church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Survivors include her children: Erryl (Janet), Mike (Ruth), Pam Moe, Greg (Monica), and Randy (Christal); 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Eunice Dahlen; a niece, Cheryl Gilster: and other extended family members.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian; sister, Jeannette Hagen; brothers-in-law, Philip Dahlen and Clifford Hagen.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church in Westby. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Minnie will be laid to rest at the Bethesda Lutheran Church Cemetery. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethesda Lutheran Church or Norseland Nursing Home.
The family is grateful for the loving care received from Norseland Nursing Home, St. Croix Hospice, and Vernon Memorial Hospital.
