Miriam Darlene Lewison

Miriam Darlene Lewison, age 93, of Westby, passed away on June 22, 2024. She was born on July 28, 1930, in Sylvan, WI to Grant and Norma (Stewart) Grim. She graduated from Viola High School. Following graduation, she worked at banks in Viola and Viroqua. She married L. David Lewison on November 25, 1954. The couple farmed in Viola, Viroqua, Sparta, and Westby. Miriam was an avid reader, loved baking cookies, enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and was an active quilter at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. She was a longtime member at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Lydia Circle. Miriam and David enjoyed traveling together and took several trips together after they finished farming. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating many special memories.

Survivors include her children, Ruth (Alan) Darelius, Paul (Karla) Lewison, and Roger (Katharine) Lewison; six grandchildren, Stephanie Enemocon, Emily (Jeremy) Angle, Erik Darelius, Gregg (Kathleen) Lewison, Gena (Jon Goettl) Lewison, and Ashley (Damian) Dinger; eight great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Conrad Lewison; sister-in-law, Sue Lewison; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Miriam was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, L. David Lewison; her brother, Darrel Grim; her sisters-in-law, Lela Grim, Dorothy Gillet, and Margaret Lewison; her brothers-in-law, Vern Lewison and Jim Gillet; and her niece, Kris Minick.

In lieu of flowers, memorials for Miriam may be addressed to the family and will be donated to Coon Prairie Cemetery or Country Coon Prairie Church in Miriam’s memory.

A Funeral Service for Miriam will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Country Coon Prairie Church, rural Westby. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Miriam will be laid to rest at the church cemetery with a meal to follow in the church hall. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
