Mons Langhus, 75, of Viroqua, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012. 96 800x600 Mons A. Langhus, age 75 of Viroqua, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012. He was born on May 21, 1936 in Viroqua, Wisconsin to Alf and Margaret (Briggson) Langhus. He was baptized, confirmed and a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Mons graduated from Viroqua High School in 1954 and from the University of Wisconsin (Madison) School of Pharmacy in 1959. Following graduation, he worked at and later owned and operated the Langhus Pharmacy in Viroqua for 36 years. On November 30, 1963, Mons was united in marriage to Judy Olson. He was in the Army Reserve for over 30 years and had been a recruiter for West Point, retiring as a Colonel. Mons was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan. In addition to his wife, Judy, Mons is survived by two children: Laura (Jim) Vig of Cross Plains and David Langhus of Eau Claire; three grandchildren: Kayla, Andrew, and Carly; his siblings: Linda (Dr. Charles) Eisenbeis of Mankato, MN, Dr. Peter (Rebecca) Langhus of Boise, ID, Sue (Paul) McDonald of Bonita Springs, FL and Dan (Karen) Peterson of Fontana, CA; brother-in-law, Maynard (Estelle) Olson of Viroqua; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Margaret and Alf and his step-dad, E.A. "Pete" Peterson; one sister, Jean Flinner; brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Flinner; mother and father-in-law, Evelyn and Roger Olson. Blessed be our memory of Mons A. Langhus. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Pastor Kathy Ingbritsen will officiate with burial to follow in Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 on Friday at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Friends may also call on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred. The Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua is serving the family.
