Morris (Morey) Eliot Proctor, age 74, of Genoa, WI passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Morris was born on July 10, 1951, to Morris and Verna (Oium) Proctor, in Viroqua, WI. He was born during the flood of 1951 and was brought home from the hospital on a tractor to Newton Valley. He married the love of his life Cheryl Volden on December 6, 1975, and raised three sons. They just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Though he was a man who didn’t show open affection, the love in his heart was strong for his wife, sons, grandchildren, family and friends. May you rest in peace my love.
Morris attended school in Newton, Romance and Viroqua. He began farming as a teenager. After moving away for a few years in 1986, he returned to his beloved Newton Valley. He worked for the township and drove dump truck for many years. He loved anything with a motor. Taking flight lessons, Snowmobiles, Ultra Lites, Tractor Pulling and Stock Cars, racing until a big crash in 2003 which ended his racing days. It was fun while it lasted.
He was a very talented self-taught machinery operator, mechanic, and body repair guy. If it needed to be fixed no matter what it was, he could fix it.
Survivors include his wife Cheryl of 50 years; his sons Heath of Chaseburg, Jared (Char) of Genoa, and Cole (Ody) of Viroqua; five grandchildren: Hailey, Elsie, Bayne, Celia and Xander; one great-grandson due in May; five sisters: Gloria Sherer, Vivian Arttus, Marilyn Torgerson, Arlene (Gary) Amundson and Lisa Young; five sisters-in-law: Kathleen Volden, Judy (Jon) Koula, Bernadette Johnson, Vickie Volden and Marla (Tom) Jones; many nieces and nephews; friends; and his beloved Golden, Riley. Family was everything to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Verna Proctor; his in-laws, Otis and Opal Volden; nephews, Daniel Koula, Keith Torgerson and Aaron Volden; his niece, Jessica Scholl; brothers In-law, Eugene Johnson, John Sherer, Roger Torgerson, Fred Arttus and Mark Young.
A gathering will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Chaseburg Village Hall. Morris will be laid to rest at the Huxley Cemetery, Newton Valley. Online Condolences may be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
