Myrtle Amundson, age 83 of Westby, died Friday, December 26, 2008. Myrtle V. Amundson, age 83 of Westby, died Friday evening, December 26, 2008 at the Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. She was born on June 11, 1925 to Gustav and Ida (Berge) Siverhus. On December 2, 1944 she was united in marriage to Julian Amundson. Together they farmed in the Westby area. Julian died on July 26, 1999. Myrtle had worked at NCR in Viroqua for 10 years. She was very proud of her rock and flower gardens at her homes. Myrtle was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and the WELCA. She is survived by three sons: David (Ruth) Amundson, Dennis (Maureen) Amundson and Marvin (Kristine) Amundson, all of Westby; five grandchildren: Andrew, Dane, Tyler, Alyssa and Kyle; one sister, Evelyn Olson; three sisters-in-law: Gwen Siverhus, Pat Siverhus, and Clarice Siverhus; brother and sisters-in-law: Lester (Betty) Amundson, Thelma Amundson and Verna Amundson;nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Julian, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther (Palmer) Olson and Isabelle (Everett) Weber; and six brothers: Harry (Margie) Siverhus, Abel Siverhus, Albin (Hazel) Siverhus, Reuben Siverhus, Grant Siverhus and Glen Siverhus; brothers and sister-in-law: Melvin Amundson, Morris Amundson, and Alex (Margaret) Amundson. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Pastor Gary Daines will officiate with burial in the Our Saviors Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from noon until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Our Saviors Lutheran Church Kitchen Fund. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
