Neil E. Zajicek, age 90 of rural Soldiers Grove died Saturday, June 16, 2012 Neil E. Zajicek, age 90 of rural Soldiers Grove died Saturday, June 16, 2012 at his home. He was born on December 14, 1921 to John and Bessie (Kimmel) Zajicek. On November 25, 1944 he was united in marriage to Ethel Barlow in Trempeleau, Wis. Neil farmed his entire life and was a member of the Jehovah Witness congregation in Viroqua. He loved to garden and enjoyed the outdoors. Neil had worked as an apple picker at orchards in the Gays Mills area. He is survived by two children: Gene (Alison) Zajicek of Alabama and Karen (Patrick) Mountain of Minnesota; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four siblings: Melvin Zajicek, Harlon (Jane) Zajicek, Geraldine (Richard) Leenhouts and Kathel (Robert) Greenwood; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ethel in 2007; four siblings: Orland, Virgil, Ralph, and Marilyn Figie. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012 at noon at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills. Burial will be in the Gays Mills Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. and again on Friday after 11 a.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home in Gays Mills. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Gays Mills is serving the family.
