Nickolas S. Lallas, II, age 87 of Genoa, died Sunday, February 27, 2011. Nickolas Soterios Lallas, 87, passed away on February 27, 2011 surrounded by family at his Lazy L Farm in Romance, Wisconsin. He was born on May 8, 1923 to parents, Sam and Anastasia Lallas from Constantinople, Greece. A long time resident of Chicago and owner of A & B Super Foods, he and his beloved Angeline retired to Wisconsin in 1969 with their two sons to their 180 acre farm. Sometimes known as "Fishing Nick", he enjoyed fishing below Lock and Damn #8 (Genoa, Wisconsin) while smoking cigars and drinking good scotch. A veteran of both WWII and the Korean War, Nick was versed in six languages. For the few that were fortunate enough to spend time with him, he was a living history of espionage and the OSS. He was a graduate of Roosevelt University where he majored in Economics. Articulate and bright, he was a formidable font of knowledge on current affairs and politics from both his life experiences and hours watching CNN. He was an ardent fan of the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs, regardless of how they played. He was predeceased by his brother Peter Lallas in 2002 and his loving wife Angeline in 2006. Nickolas is survived by his sons Soterios (Ak) Lallas (Romance, WI) and George Lallas (Oakley, CA), their wives, Nancy Lallas and Bess Lallas-Colling and grandchildren Nickolas Lallas and his wife Melissa Iverson, Anastasia Lallas, Mathias Lallas and Nathan Lallas and his sister-in-law, Jane Corson. He is also survived by his brother Arthur Lallas of Des Plaines, Illinois. Visitation will be held at Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby, on Friday, March 4th, 2011 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers or plants, donations may be made to Vernon Memorial Hospice, Bethel Home Foundation, or The American Cancer Society. The Vosseteig Funeral Homes are assisting the family.
