Nora A. Iverson

Nora A. Iverson, age 93 of Westby, passed away peacefully Friday evening, January 20, 2006 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. She was born on December 4, 1912 in the township of Coon, Vernon County, Wisconsin to Mathias and Bastine (Hallumn) Midtlien who immigrated to the United States from Favang and Faberg Norway. On December 4, 1935 she was united in marriage to John M. Iverson. The couple farmed near Viroqua and then she worked as a Nurses Aid at Morrow home in Sparta. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby and the WELCA. Nora was known to her grandchildren as the "kid grandma" and she took great delight in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and kept in contact with her many relatives in Norway. She and John visited Norway twice, and many of her relatives came to the United States to visit Nora. Nora is survived by her two sons, Ronald (Sandra) Iverson of Westby and Marvin (Kathleene) Iverson of West Salem; five grandchildren: Amy (Jerry) Clements of LaCrosse, Kristi (Tim) Connelly of Sun Prairie, Charles Iverson of Westby, Jon (Claudia Fetterley) Iverson of Poplar Grove, IL, and Rebecca (Steve) Furuta of LaCrosse; nine great-grandchildren: Joe, Andy & Seonah Iverson, Ryan Connelly, Blake and Samantha Clements, Brandon, Logan and Alexa Furuta; one sister, Helen Elsen of LaCrosse; and one sister-in-law, Enola Iverson of Westby; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Nora was preceded in death by her husband in 1989; three brothers: Helmer, Carl "Chubby" and Morris Midtlien; one sister, Mabel Brye; and a special cousin, Orlando Emilson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby. Pastor Gary Daines will officiate with burial in the Our Saviors Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Vosseteig Funeral Home, 708 S. Hwy 14 in Westby. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday after 10:00 a.m.
