Noreen L. Nofsinger

Noreen L. Nofsinger, age 90, passed away in hospice care on March 8, 2022. She was born on April 7, 1931, in Clear Lake, IA to Orton and Fern (Howard) Olson. They eventually settled in Valley, which she called home. She was a 1949 graduate of Hillsboro High School. She went on to Vernon County Normal School and taught for a short time after her graduation. She married the love of her life, Bert Nofsinger in Valley on June 31, 1954. The couple farmed at rural La Farge for 19 years. Noreen was comfortable on a tractor, working in tobacco, and doing other farm work with Bert. In 1974 they moved to Valley and fixed up the house that was in Bert's family. Bert passed away in 1991 from pancreatic cancer. With a huge void in her life, Noreen continued to keep up the huge yard and house for 11 years and then moved to an apartment in La Farge. Noreen is survived by her daughter Coreen (Ken) Hofschulte, of Valley (La Farge); a brother, Marlyn Olson of rural Hillsboro; two grandchildren, Justin (Jennifer) Dorschied of Richfield, MN and Nicole (Jeff) Osgood of Holmen, WI; three great-grandchildren: Addelyn, Tenley and Alice; sister-in-law Shirley Nofsinger of Menomonie, WI; and dear friends Lyle and Sharon Dorschied. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Orion Olson. Per her wishes, there will be no funeral. A short graveside service will be held with immediate family and close friends. Bonita Dorschied will officiate. A celebration of life with a light lunch will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at the Senior Meal Site (Kickapoo Haven), 106 Main Street, La Farge.
