Norma Jean Gilman

Norma Gilman, age 64, of Viroqua, WI passed away while surrounded by loved ones on October 24th, 2024, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse after a long battle with a myriad of medical issues.

After being born to Ivan and Marianne Hauge on March 10th, 1960, Norma was raised and built a loving family in Viroqua over the course of 40 years with her husband, Randy. Norma grew up on the farm with her six siblings: Jim (Shelly) Gander, Peggy (Terry) Clark, Norman (Dawn) Hauge, Nancy (Matt) Droog, Larry Hauge, and Lorie (Milton) Gill. Norma loved entertaining and feeding customers at both Country Kitchen as a waitress and McDonald’s as the morning manager. She took great pride in both working hard and making people smile.

Norma and Randy raised 4 children that she deeply loved and made her proud: Thomas (Hannah) Gilman - daughter Eliza and godson Dominic, Lucas Gilman, Trisha Gilman - daughter Annabella, and Chelsey (Quinn) Sedlak - son Iroh and daughter Violet.

Before the health conditions took over, Norma’s free time included an abundance of quilting which she channeled into over 100 quilt donations to the Ronald McDonald House and many gifts to newborns and loved ones. She also cherished time spent with her siblings, grabbing food with her squad of lifetime friends, and visits with her grandchildren whom she adored.

Norma will be remembered for her hard-working nature - frequently used to make lefse, a tenacity for helping others, her sense of humor, and the love she had for all her siblings, nieces/nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and more. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson - Jamie. She is survived by her husband, siblings, children, grandchildren, and many more family members that remember how hard she fought and how deeply she loved.

A Funeral Service for Norma will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Franklin Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua. A brief prayer service will begin at 8:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be held Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Norma will be laid to rest in the church cemetery with a luncheon to follow in the church fellowship hall.
