Norman A. Fortun

VIROQUA / RED MOUND Norman A. Fortun, 87 of Fort Collins, Colorado and formerly of Viroqua, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 2nd, 2017 in Loveland, Colorado. Norman was born to Ivan P. and Bessie N. (Bean) Fortun on June 9, 1930 in Red Mound. He was a member of the United States Navy for 6 years and functioned as a Navy photographer in aerial reconnaissance for many of those years. In 1954 he married Mary Snead and they later divorced. In 1964 he married Harriet Cox and after 25 years they divorced. He then married his current wife Jeanine. Norman was a respected deputy and detective on the Dane County Sheriffs Department in Madison, Wisconsin for 25 years. Upon retirement he and Jeanine moved to Fort Collins, Colorado. Norman was passionate about photography and was almost always seen with a camera in his hand capturing many family memories. He had unique sense of humor and always enjoyed playing pranks on others he was a true joy to all those he encountered. Norman is survived by: his wife Jeanine, brother Maynard (Donna) Fortun of Westby WI, brother Larry Fortun of Viroqua WI, and many nieces and nephews who he dearly loved. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ardyce, brother-in-law Alvin and sister-in-law Lynn. Blessed be our memory of Norman. A Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 4 6 pm at Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home in Viroqua, Wisconsin. Burial with Military Honors will be held at a date and time yet to be determined. Memorials preferred to the North West Prairie Lutheran Church or charity of the donors choice.
