VIROQUA Norman Floyd Rood, age 90, died Thursday July 20, 2017 at Gundersen Medical Center in La Crosse. Norman was born in Viroqua on April 14, 1927 to Alfred and Edna (Best) Rood. He was raised and spent most of his childhood in the Newton Valley of Harmony Township. It was in Newton Creek that he shared much of his time teaching his children and grandchildren how to fish. He dearly loved the time he spent with his family especially the grandkids. But he loved talking to anyone he met, strangers included, and he always had time and a tin of chew to share. He retired after 27 years working for the county, mostly at Vernon Manor. When he wasnt working he loved gardening, all around the yard and porch from tomatoes and vegies to chicks and hens. He also enjoyed painting. Hed paint anything and everythingnot very well cause sometimes it washed right off, but he had fun painting. He could spend hours with his favorite pets too, feeding orange crush to his friendly deer Bambi or just relaxing with his faithful companion, a cat that was part of the family, Abbey. Norman is survived by: his wife Patricia (Berg) Rood, his children and extended family, Lynnette (Conrad) Rice, Christine Worden, Randolf Randy Rood, Kimmberly Hart, Ronald Ron (Chris) Rood, Sheri (Chris) Lanik as well as Tammy (Kalvin) Hanson and Donald (Cassandra) Seaman. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren: Connie (David) Hatfield, Keith Rice, Samantha (Kevin Price) Rice, Carrie Lee Britt, Jared Domenget, Jeremy Hart, Teresa Hart, Angela Domenget, Ashley (Austin) Ayala, Adam Seaman, Robert Jorgensen, plus; 9 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a brother Jerry (Nancy) Rood and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Norman will be Tuesday July 25, 2017 at 11:30 A.M. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. Pastor Donald Greven of the Bad Axe Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow the service at the Viroqua Cemetery. Friends may call on the family during a visitation at the Funeral Home one hour before the service from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred.
