Utica - Norman M. Fryseth was born to Peter and Thorene (Tena Stovey) Fryseth on September 14, 1929, at St. Ann’s Hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Peter, Tena, and Norman moved to Seneca where he went to school. At the young age of 10, they moved to their beautiful farm.
He later met and married Joyce Stevenson in 1950. They had a son, Dwight Fryseth in 1952, and a daughter, Jan Fryseth in 1955, both born in Prairie du Chien, WI. Norman farmed his whole life on the family farm in Utica Township. He was an active member at the Utica Lutheran Church and served on the cemetery committee for over 30 years. Norman enjoyed music, playing the fiddle for the Merrymakers. He enjoyed bowling with his wife, sold seed corn, electronics, and served on the board of Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance.
Norman passed from this life into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 20, 2024, with Dwight and Jan by his side. Pastor Julie Wollman, Chaplain from St. Croix Hospice, offered bedside service playing gentle music and giving prayer.
Norman is survived by his children, Dwight Fryseth of Winona, MN and Jan Fryseth-Shedivy of rural Ferryville; grandson, Craig Shedivy; grandson-in-law, Christopher Hodge; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie (fiancée Reniel Christianson) Hodge, and Maxon Hodge; and great-great-granddaughter, Layla Heather Obana Christianson, all of the Twin Cities.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce Fryseth; and his granddaughter, Heather Hodge.
