Norris A. Sandy, age 92 of Ferryville, died Wednesday, October 24, 2007 Norris A. Sandy, age 92 of Ferryville, died Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua where he had been a resident for the past 2 years. He was born August 5, 1915 in Crawford County, Wis. to Norton and Annie (White) Sandy. On October 12, 1940 he was united in marriage to Myrtle Olivia Hatlan in Waukon, Iowa and they recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. Norris and Myrtle farmed all their married life, raising dairy cows, tobacco and pigs. Norris enjoyed playing Euchre, working part-time (mostly as a hobby) for the button factory in Lansing, Iowa, doing custom work for their neighbors farms, and being a cattle trucker. Norris was a devoted husband, father and grandfather: He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Sandy; children: Norma (Harold) Brockway of Seneca, Maynard (Cheri) Sandy of Ferryville, Nancy (Lonnie) McDowell of DeSoto; grandchildren: Ron, Dick, Bob and Russell Brockway, Deb Shepard, and Dawn Honken; great- grandchildren: Josey and Wade Brockway, Brianna and Daniellle Brockway, Rachel, Ronnie Jr., and Andrew Brockway, Brandon and Tyler Shepard, Cody and Courtney Sandy, and Skylar Honken; as well as many nieces and nephews. Norris was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Thomas; three sisters: Bessie Sandy, Lillian Sandy, and Sophie Webb; and one daughter in infancy.Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Vosseteig-Larson Funeral Home, 123 W. Decker (Hwy 56) in Viroqua. The Rev. Dr. Steven Fossum will officiate with burial in the West Prairie Hauge Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until the time of services on Friday at the funeral home. (Due to road construction, please use parking lot entrance half a block South of Decker Street.)
