Olga Jackson

Olga Jackson, age 87 of Westby, died Sunday evening, October 31, 2010. Olga Lenora Jackson passed away at Vernon Memorial Hospital on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at the age of 87. She was born on February 25, 1923 to Ole and Lena (Opshal) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed at the North Coon Prairie Lutheran Church in Newry. On June 5, 1943 she was united in marriage to Alton Jackson in Cashton, Wisconsin. They farmed Altons home place until they moved to Westby where Alton worked for the Westby area Schools and she worked for Social Services. He died in 1994. A year later she moved to Viroqua. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, the Esther Circle and the WELCA, where she served on the Stewardship Committee for many years, a past Bible school and Sunday school teacher and was active in various womens organizations. Surviving are her two sons: David (Claudia) Jackson of Rockford, Illinois and Michael (Carmen) Jackson of Gainesville, Virginia; three grandsons: Troy (Paula) Jackson of Rockford, Illinois, Alton (Lisa) Jackson of Rockton, Illinois and Jacob Jackson of Gainesville, Virginia; three great-grandchildren: Joseph, Andrew and Alexandra Jackson; sister, Clarissa Bertling; many nieces and nephews; and her very special friend, Irvin Dregne with whom she spent the last several years in great companionship. The family wishes to express our deepest gratitude and deepest affection to Irvin who provided her with loving care and assisted her while she was at the Bethel Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton; one son, Armin; three sisters: and eight brothers. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a friend to all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby. Pastor Norman Rose will officiate with burial in the Our Saviors Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
