Orbeck L. Larson

Orbeck L. Larson, age 85 of Viroqua, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011. Orbeck L. Larson, age 85 of Viroqua and formerly of Westby, died early Wednesday morning, May 11, 2011 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua where he had been a resident since 2006. He was born on July 14, 1925 to Palmer and Olga (Brettingen) Larson. In December of 1956 he married Helen Hendricks and they later divorced. Orbeck was a truck driver for many years and had worked for Sloan Bros. and Kraemers. He was a diesel mechanic for Pengra Brothers in LaCrosse and had also worked for Rochester Sand and Gravel as a mechanic. Orbeck was a member of Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church, The Teamsters Union, and was also a member of Syverson-Funk American Legion Post #155, having served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by three children: Shelby (Bob) Nicklay of Eagan, MN, Douglas (Mary Jo) Larson of Woodbury, MN, and Kathe Danielson of Andover, MN; nine grandchildren: Jennifer, Scott, Jacob, Matthew, Jamie, Ben,] and Sam, Tori and Sammy; two great-grandchildren: Tyler Nicklay Kaylen Ojanen; three brothers: Roderick (Nancy) Larson of Janesville, Paul (Shirley) Larson of Janesville and Monte (Charlene) Larson of Viroqua; two sisters: Ione Lind of Viroqua and Rachel (Dick) Friberg of La Crescent, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Hanson. Blessed be our memory of Orbeck Luther Larson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church with Pastor Julie Wollman officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Coon Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday after 10 a.m. The Vosseteig Funeral Home of Westby is serving the family.
