Orville Arvid Roiland, May 21, 2005 IN MEMORY OF:Orville Arvid Roiland Orville Arvid Roiland, age 87, died May 21, 2005 in Madison. He was born on October 10, 1917 to Bennie Nielson Roiland and Alma (Christianson) Roiland of rural Westby. Orville was confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church by the late Rev. O.M. Kleven. Orville was a fourth generation descendant of Nils Pederson Roiland who homesteaded the family farm in 1857. Orville farmed on the family farm along with his brothers until he went into the army air force in 1941. He was an airplane armorer in the service and was honorably discharged in 1945. After his army service he was an apprentice clockmaker for Rose Jewelry, downtown LaCrosse. He later relocated to Madison where he worked for Badger Ordnance powder plant. After retirement, he lived in Brighting Ham Place high rise apartments in Madison. He is survived by one brother, Alvin Roiland of LaCrosse; a nephew, Arnold Roiland of Hendersonville, TN; two nieces, Karen Lundgren and Carolyn Lemke of St. Paul, MN; sister-in-law, Lois Roiland of St. Paul, MN; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Harold, Blaine, Willard and Chester. Funeral service: Friday, May 27, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Bethel Lutheran Church, rural Viroqua.
